G2X TAKE: The new Executive Director for the Office of Small & Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) appears to be working quickly to build out a team, as Ms. Sharon Ridley, the recent Executive Director for Network Support (SES), moves over to serve as #2 in support of this office’s mission to change how Veteran-owned and other small business concerns gain access to economic opportunities. In her new role, Ms. Ridley will have oversight of programs that promote small business participation in VA procurements, with special emphasis on Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses and Veteran-Owned Small Businesses.
In light of the announcement from the VA Secretary early this week that VA expects “to award at least 15% of its total contract dollars to SDVOSBs and at least 17% to VOSBs, representing a 5% increase in both goals”, we would expect many Veteran-owned small businesses to be visiting this office to better understand where and how they will meet the outlined objectives.
More on the new Executive Director, who also only joined recently, can be found below.

G2X TAKE: Thank you to several G2X Health members who passed along information about the Office of Small & Disadvantaged Business Utilization getting a new leader.
Ruby Harvey (Senior Executive Service), the current Chancellor of the VA Acquisition Academy (VAAA), is reported to be moving over to serve as the Executive Director for the Office of Small & Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU).
What about Tom?
Tom Leney, the OSDBU Director and champion for small business since 2011 is reported to be staying with the VA as he takes on a role leading the Fredericksburg, VA based Strategic Acquisition Center (SAC).
Ruby will clearly have big shoes to fill as she looks to support the increasingly larger pool of qualified Veteran-owned small businesses who have stepped up to support VA over the past few years.
