VA Security & Identity Management Executive Director takes lead role with new agency

G2X TAKE: Having spent the better part of the last three years overseeing VA's diverse global security infrastructure, and as Director for the State Department's Office of Personnel Security prior to that, this move to serve as a Director leading automation and management initiatives for this new bureau focused on Background Investigations will draw interest from the VA community.

Jim Onusko has taken role as Director for the National Background Investigations Bureau's Federal Investigative Records Enterprise, where his combination of investigative expertise, process and automation expertise will come in handy as he "leads the way in automation and management of government-wide investigative records collection and retention." Jim spent the last 8 months as part of the transition team for this new bureau.

NBIB only launched in October of this year. New agency. New Mission. This would typically lead to new funding as this agency works to get off the ground and meet emerging needs, though it is hard to know how receptive this new administration will be to what may be perceived as a new and additional government initiative led by an outgoing administration. We suspect that won't stop those who know Jim from reaching out to offer their assistance.
