G2X TAKE: After almost 5 years of experience working on modernization efforts related to the VA electronic health record and Joint Legacy Viewer (JLV) this VA executive has moved back to industry by joining one of the T4NG SDVOSB primes.
Late last year, David Waltman joined AbleVets as their Chief Strategy Officer where he will be able to continue his focus on "delivering technology, program and change management solutions for Veterans and Servicemembers.", though it will be on the industry side of the equation.
AbleVets has picked up several contracts on T4NG to date, to include a 3 year $13M task for Contact Center Operational Hub Implementation and Support; a $3.3M Security Engineering Support task for the VA OI&T Office of Information Security. and, most notably a 4 year $30.8M contract for Agile Development and Sustainment Support for the Joint Legacy Viewer.
Founded by Dr. Wyatt Smith, a board certified internist who spent time as Deputy CIO for the Military Health System (MHS) and, prior to that, as Commanding Officer for the Navy’s medical information technology command, this type of strategic hire and investment will provide AbleVets with great insight and only helps to further establish credibility in a number of key growing areas at VA.
