G2X TAKE: There are many who wondered what would become of the United States Digital Service under the new administration, but these two new hires indicate that this group does not intend to go away anytime soon.
USDS recently added the now former CMS Director for the Division of Web Operations/Website and New Media Group/Office of Communication, Ketan Patel, as a Digital Service Expert. Ketan will bring a set of experience gained over the course of the last 6 years at CMS, where he most recently led a team responsible for web development and web/cloud operations of the Medicare.gov, CMS.gov, and Healthcare.gov websites, as well as directing research, strategy development and implementation of various web-based programs and emerging technologies.
Former HHS Digital engagement and Customer Experience Analytics lead, Mary Lazzeri, was technically re-recruited to USDS after having served with USDS from 2015 to early 2017, after nearly five years at HHS where she led communications campaigns to target health safety-net providers, CHIP, Medicare recipients and grant applicants including: StopMedicareFraud.gov, InsureKidsNow.gov, Flu.gov, HRSA.gov, and the “Debunk the Myths” series. Lazzeri will be supporting USDS at the SBA.
While USDS is not a Health focused agency, they have been asked to support numerous high-profile efforts across HHS and VA.
