G2X TAKE: A few short months after announcing his intent to retire from Federal service, this recent detailee to the VA’s Office of Enterprise Integration in support of VA’s modernization effort, and Principal Executive Director for VA OALC, has officially departed VA and hung out his shingle in December as President of his own consulting firm.
With VA continuing to push forward with their ambitious modernization agenda, Greg Giddens will have plenty of suitors looking to take advantage of the perspective, insight, and relationships he has developed over the course of his time at VA and elsewhere.
G2X TAKE: The departure of this VA leader who has served as the Principal Executive Director for the Office of Acquisition, Logistics and Construction for the past 2 1/2 years, only adds to the growing challenge VA faces as Senior Executives continue to exit, while agency leadership outlines and drives forward with their ambitious modernization agenda.
As part of a broad memo sent to colleagues and provided to G2X, Greg Giddens, has stated he plans to retire from federal service at the end of November.
With Giddens currently detailed to the VA Office of Enterprise Integration to help lead the VA’s modernization effort, Stella Fiotes had been serving in acting OALC Executive Director role since April and she will presumably continue in that capacity until a replacement can be found. The search is already underway with this retirement announcement going out in conjunction with the OALC vacancy announcement.
Between now and the end of November, Giddens will not be taking it easy as he has stated that he will “run through the tape”. Given the insight, understanding, and relationships Giddens retains, we know he will be busy fielding calls from firms looking to secure his services once he exits.
