G2X TAKE: In terms of having the opportunity to do cutting edge IT work, few agencies can compare. This three-year task is to provide a range of IT support services for the NIH’s Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications, which is a heavily focused technology and research arm for the National Library of Medicine. From Clinical Data Standards & Electronic Medical Records to Image Processing & Visualization and Natural Language Processing, the types of project and opportunities can vary greatly.

NLM has typically run much of their work through a set of multiple award vehicles that were competed in an unrestricted manner. The level of expertise required here may drive this back that way, so be prepared. While the work is very interesting, the past performance can be valuable in terms of vignettes to use across the broader Federal Health sector, it is important to be aware that this Federal group has historically been interested in more of a staffing model with rates that match.
