Solicitation: SAMHSA Behavioral Health Information Technologies and Standards (BHITS)

Posted (Last updated )

The BHITS Task Order will extend upon the technologies and standards developed through BHITS to support real world pilot implementation and dissemination of HIT tools in the behavioral health community. BHITS represents a cross-center collaboration between the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS), the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), and the Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality (CBHSQ). Task Order goals are to:

- Oversee pilot testing and support dissemination of HIT tools and standards for behavioral health;

- Provide comprehensive technical assistance (TA) to states, communities, behavioral health providers, consumers, and others to support adoption and effective use of HIT;

- Coordinate with federal partners, including ONC, to support the dissemination of HIT tools to enable patient self-management and shared decision making through effective information sharing...

G2X TAKE: This three-year task is to support the development of modular Heath IT tools for behavioral health, with a focus on "real world pilot implementation and dissemination" of these tools in the behavioral health community.

An incumbent on this is  FEi Systems as they were awarded a $19M contract in late 2014 on CIO-SP3 SB. FEi's known for their focus at the intersection of behavioral health and technology, ensuring this group remains a favorite to pick this up again. That won't stop others from trying. A few other firms with a track record at SAMHSA who are likely to be coveted partners on this include Westat, Synectics for Management Decisions Inc, and RTI
