DEFENSE APPROPRIATIONS SUBCOMMITTEE APPROVES MONEY FOR EHRs: The Defense appropriations subcommittee approved $32.5 billion for the Defense Health Program Tuesday, which includes money for the next generation of electronic health records. Details scant as of yet presumably were talking DHMSM here? We like speculating. You like speculating. Inform us of your speculations (see contact info below.)
G2X TAKE: Every major health publication out there is waiting on baited breath for the DoD to provide any hint as to the victor for DHMSM. While the DoD does mention EHR as a component, this funding approval is procedural I suppose at least it is a step forward. In addition to the PR war that rages on social media between DHMSM bidders, EPIC and IBM continue to push hard on the recruiting front in anticipation of an award.
Everyone seems to be betting on EPIC but an interesting question posed on twitter yesterday by Ryan Conrad Martin ?@TheHealthSavant – What if the DOD selects @Cerner; a bit ambitious possibly? ;-p @TheHCIGroup #DHMSM http://goo.gl/uM094e
