NIH Director, Francis Collins: ‘We aim to go much further’ – good high level overview of major initiatives at NIH

G2X TAKE: This is a good flyover article for those interested in NIH, although there’s nothing really new here. The NIH has several major new initiatives underway that will be the central focus of any congressional briefing for the next several years, including Precision Medicine, the Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) initiative, and the NIH role in pandemic preparedness. While there are a number of large Health IT projects at NIH that do not require bioinformatics expertise, this article only drives home why it is critical for firms doing work at NIH to invest in real subject matter expertise to have continued success.
