G2X TAKE: While Health IT does not appear to be the primary motivator here, a recent flurry of M&A activity will definitely have an impact on the competitive landscape. News yesterday that CIO-SP3 and Alliant prime, Vistronix Intelligence & Technology Solutions, has been acquired by the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC) will only add this the growing story and set of contracts this group is building in the Federal Health sector.
Not a year removed from the news that ASRC purchased Data Networks Corporation, the Vistronix acquisition provides ASRC with access on both the small and large Alliant AND CIO-SP3 contracts, along with a new set of past performance that includes contracts such as a recently awarded $30M 5 year NIH National Toxicological Program Data Support contract and an ongoing task for continued support of the
Infrastructure, Office Automation and Telecommunications (IOAT) program at HHS Indian Health Service.
In other news, Leidos announced the closing of the merger with Lockheed Martins IS&GS group. This merger which was announced early this year creates a massive Federal Health player as their reach now extends across HHS, CMS, DHA and VA. What a ride for the team from Systems Made Simple, who will now need to order yet another new set of business cards.
And PlanetRisk announced last week that they have acquired Tysons Corner?based Analytic Strategies. Having just been awarded a 5 year $24.4M contract this past Spring at DHA HQ to provide Corporate Support Services, it will be interesting to see how/if this analytics company can parlay this contract into more.
