G2X TAKE: After being acquired last year as part of a $2.6B acquisition, this provider of cloud-based healthcare data, analytics and insights just added this 5-year contract to support HCUP, a family of databases, software tools and related products developed through a Federal-State-Industry partnership and sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
This contract awarded to Truven Health Analytics, now part of the IBM Watson Health group, builds on prior experience Truven had supporting HCUP and their efforts to create a national information resource of longitudinal healthcare data. “The HCUP databases bring together the data collection efforts of state-level data organizations and the Federal government to create a national information resource of patient-level health care data.”
A list of HCUP Databases includes the National (Nationwide) Inpatient Sample (NIS), Kids’ Inpatient Database (KID), Nationwide Emergency Department Sample (NEDS), Nationwide Readmissions Database, State Inpatient Databases (SID), State Ambulatory Surgery and Services Databases (SASD), and the State Emergency Department Databases (SEDD).
