G2X TAKE: Building on their prior experience helping the Agency modernize its regulatory review process, Fortune 50 Technology giant IBM recently beat out three other bidders to be awarded a new 5-year Blanket Purchase Agreement in support of the Food and Drug Administration. This BPA contract was competed and awarded using GSA IT-70.
- In 2013 IBM landed a 5-year $75 million FDA contract to help the Agency modernize its regulatory review process by ramping up the its computation science capabilities. Read more here.
- IBM has had a busy and successful Fall at FDA, to include winning several tasks supporting the Development of New and Innovative Methods for Automated Reporting for CBER-Regulated Biologic on the $75M multiple-award CBER Biologics Effectiveness and Safety (BEST) Initiative BPA IBM added this time last year; a task to provide Service Desk Support services; and another to provide Data Management and Analysis Support for the OCS Clinical Services.
- IBM has made numerous acquisitions over last few years, but two in particular further cemented their position as a dominant player across the Federal Health sector: The recent landmark $34B acquisition of Red Hat, in a move intended to define a more open/hybrid cloud future; and a $2.6B Acquisition of Truven Health Analytics, a move intended to extending their leadership in Value-Based Care Solutions in 2016.
- The company was identified as one of the Federal Health consulting firms creating a BUZZ early this year.
