DOD/VA Interagency Program Office taps new lead

“John Short, the program executive for the VistA Evolution program at the Department of Veterans Affairs, has been tapped to take over as the acting deputy director of the DOD/VA Interagency Program Office responsible for ensuring electronic health record sharing between the VA and the Pentagon.
Steve Schliesman, who has lead the office since last July, plans to leave government on April 15.
In an April 12 email to staff obtained by MeriTalk, acting VA Chief Information Officer Rob C. Thomas II, called Short “the ideal candidate” to step back into the acting deputy director role that he held for a brief time in 2015.

John Short brings plenty of credibility and understanding to the role based on his previous experience as the VA Director of Interoperability and Enterprise Shared Services (IESS) and as Cyber Security, Privacy & Data Branch Manager for the IPO prior to that.
