G2X TAKE: Building on what has already been a hotly contested competition, a protest has been filed with GAO related to the recent award of the $74M PECOS Redesign task, a ground-up redesign of the current Medicare Enrollment System.
This is not the first protest put forth by Verisys Corporation on PECOS Redesign as this health software and technology firm founded by a former Acting Undersecretary / Deputy Secretary of HHS filed several challenges with GAO late last year, with CMS reportedly agreeing to take corrective action (some details here).
Details as to the grounds for this latest challenge are limited at this point. The due date for resolution of the protest is currently listed as no later than October 4, 2017.

G2X TAKE: Beating out 4 other bidders, this EDWOSB and CMS SPARC prime who only recently recruited the former CMS Group Director for the Center for Program Integrity just added a 5 year task to support the redesign and maintenance of the PECOS system.
Awarded to Solutions By Design II, this task for a newly developed / engineered Provider Enrollment Chain and Ownership System (PECOS 2.0) in support of Centers for Program Integrity (CPI) builds on previous experience at CMS this firm has as prime contract holder on the 5-year $50M+ CMS Health Insurance Oversight System.
The competition for this effort has had its share of challenges along the way, including a series of protest actions (details here). Whether this award is final or it will see another challenge is yet tbd, but what we do know is that the competition at CMS continues to be fierce, keeping both industry and government on their toes.
