ITEM DESCRIPTION- Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane has a requirement for an initial quantity of two (2) Trigger Spark Gaps, part number ZR7512 SPRK GAP, TRIG VAC, 45 KV with additional options over the next four years to purchase an additional quantity of eight (8) Trigger Spark Gaps. SOLE SOURCE PROCUREMENT- The proposed contract action is for the supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source only MPD Components, Inc. of Owensboro, Kentucky, Cage Code 33173, under the authority of FAR 12.201-1 for commercial items using simplified procedures. This is being solicited on a sole source only basis because the ZR7512 is a cold-cathode, vacuum-triggered spark gap designed for high-voltage switching applications. It is a General Electric product, part of the ZR-series triggered vacuum gaps, and is used in systems requiring rapid, high-current switching of stored energy. The ZR7512 combines the wide voltage range and reliability of vacuum gaps with the ease of triggering of gas gaps.
