The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center intends to award a firm-fixed-price sole-source purchase order to Antech for the procurement of an Element HT5+ Veterinary Hematology blood analyzer. This equipment will be utilized in the Quezado Lab in Bethesda, Maryland, to support experimental processes by providing accurate analysis of diverse reticulocyte counts and additional data points regarding blood composition. The acquisition is categorized under NAICS 339112 Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing and PSC 6515 Medical and Surgical Instruments, Equipment, and Supplies. There is no set-aside designated for this requirement.
The laboratory currently uses Antech’s HT5 machine, and the transition to the upgraded Element HT5+ model is necessary to maintain consistent experimental conditions and analysis parameters established over several years. This specific technology ensures continued accurate measurement of blood parameters while increasing laboratory throughput through fast and precise reticulocyte measuring. Because of the requirement for continuity in ongoing experimentation, the government has determined that the equipment cannot be substituted for another device.
This special notice, identified by solicitation number 26-006765, is issued under the authority of FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures, specifically allowing for a sole-source procurement when only one source is reasonably available. While this is not a request for quotation, interested parties may submit their interest and capabilities to the NIH Clinical Center, Office of Purchasing and Contracts, for consideration. The response deadline is June 17, 2026, and all inquiries should be directed to the contract specialist, Kristin Nagashima.
