Sources Sought Benchtop EPR/ESR Spectrometer
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting market research to identify sources for a Benchtop Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) / Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) Spectrometer. This notice, issued by the NIST Acquisition Management Division, will help determine the feasibility of a small business set-aside and identify domestic manufacturers. The procurement supports the NIST Physical Measurements Lab and is currently in the pre-solicitation phase to refine technical requirements. The scope includes a primary spectrometer and three optional components: a liquid nitrogen variable temperature control system, an optical irradiation system, and an automated goniometer. Performance will take place at the NIST facility in Boulder, Colorado. Capability statements are due by June 26, 2026, and must detail manufacturing capabilities, country of origin, and delivery lead times. The technical document included with this notice establishes mandatory thresholds for frequency, sensitivity, and magnetic field range. NIST is seeking vendors for a Benchtop EPR/ESR Spectrometer to support the Physical Measurements Lab in Boulder, Colorado. The NIST Magnetic Imaging Group (MIG) requires a benchtop EPR/ESR spectrometer to expand measurement capabilities for spin species in metals, free radicals, and ions in solution.
