The National Institutes of Health (NIH), specifically the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), has issued a pre-solicitation for the NIH Gateway to Research Opportunities for the Workforce (GROW) Program. This research capacity-building initiative provides a two-year training program designed to prepare students to become competitive applicants for research training programs at research-intensive institutions. The procurement is classified under NAICS 611310, Colleges, Universities, and Professional Schools, and PSC U005, Education/Training- Tuition/Registration/Membership Fees. Performance will take place in Bethesda, Maryland, under a fixed-price purchase order with an estimated period of performance consisting of one 12-month base period and one 12-month option period.
The program includes two distinct tracks for which offerors may only quote one. The High School Track targets colleges, universities, and medical schools near American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities to prepare rising juniors and seniors for STEM-M careers through a curriculum involving clinical and basic research, neuroscience, and Traditional Knowledge. The Undergraduate Track is designed for resource-limited institutions (RLIs) to support rising freshmen and sophomores with limited research experience. Both tracks require a seven- to eight-week summer program complemented by enrichment activities in the fall and spring that foster mentor/mentee relationships and professional networking.
Solicitation number 75N98026Q00122 is expected to be released on or about June 17, 2026, with a response deadline of June 16, 2026. The agency anticipates making one or multiple awards in June or July of 2026, though the requirement is not expected to exceed the simplified acquisition threshold. There is no set-aside designated for this notice. All responsible sources must be registered with a Unique Entity ID and active in the System for Award Management to be considered for award.
