Elevator Modernization

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Office of the Chief Procurement Officer, is seeking engineering services for the modernization of 17 electric elevators at its Washington, DC, location. Under solicitation 2031ZA26Q00100, the contractor will develop bridging documents, including conceptual designs, technical specifications, and performance criteria, to facilitate a future design-build construction contract. The scope covers the complete repair of 12 passenger and five freight elevators, requiring the replacement of obsolete components, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) system upgrades, and structural alterations to bring machine rooms and hoistways into code compliance. The project also involves asbestos-containing material (ACM) abatement, the removal of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and the integration of new elevator controllers with the agency’s existing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.

The selected contractor must ensure all designs comply with federal, state, and local regulations while minimizing disruptions to building operations and meeting specific energy savings and sustainability goals. This requirement is classified under NAICS 541330 Engineering Services and PSC C215 ARCHITECT AND ENGINEERING- GENERAL: PRODUCTION ENGINEERING. This solicitation is designated as a SBA Small Business Administration set-aside.
